Beluga sturgeon

A large Beluga thriving. Do not mistake this species for the Beluga Whale.

The Beluga Sturgeon (Huso huso) is a large, critically endangered species of Sturgeon from the family Acipenseridae, and the genus Huso. It's primary home is both the Caspian and Black Sea, but it will often travel to rivers to spawn. It is currently very endangered because it is being overfished and killed for its caviar, which is basically a luxurious condiment. This fish reaches easily over 7 meters in length, and can also very easily weigh up to 1000 pounds.
