Arapaima gigas, or Piraracu is a large freshwater fish from the family Osteoglossidae and the genus Arapaima. It lives mainly only in the Amazon River and feeds on smaller animals. It is considered to be one of the largest freshwater fish species in the world. This fish can reach up to 2 metres in length, and weigh over 220 pounds.
